Get AI
Working

For builders

Found for renos. Old clients back. Variations drafted.

AI changed how people find a builder. We come to you, pick the few fixes that make the biggest difference, and set them up in your own accounts.

For builders

The things keeping you up at night.

Few enquiries come in, each is worth months, and the paperwork waits for Sunday.

  • Nobody finds us when they search.
  • Word of mouth is all we have.
  • Enquiries sit in an inbox nobody opens.
  • Past clients build again with someone else.
  • Variations get agreed on site, written up later.
  • We pay for apps nobody opens.

What changed

People stopped searching. They ask an AI.

The same machine now drafts, answers and chases for a business that used to need a team. Get AI Working exists to get that machine working for small businesses like yours.

  • Then: you had to be in the list

Somebody searched, scrolled a page of links, and rang whoever looked closest. Every builder was in the running.

  • Now: one business gets named

Google writes the answer itself and names a business or two.1 Most people never scroll.

  • What to do: be the name in the answer

Build the listing, the pages and the answered reviews a machine can check, then add the rest one at a time.

Sources + notes

Asked to recommend a local business in two Blue Mountains towns, an AI assistant named none at all.2 The mountains end of this catchment runs on alterations and extensions, not new houses.3

Any variation has to be in writing and signed by both parties, a term of every contract whether or not anybody typed it.5 Where a job needs home building cover it must be in place before the deposit, and the cover is the insurer’s to grant.6

At the mountains end, the bushfire map shapes the design before you price it.7 We draft and we time; the contract is yours to sign.

Your job software may already draft an estimate, send it for signature and drip-feed a quiet lead: Buildxact and Buildertrend say so on their own pages, read 22 September 2026.

  1. Verified. Google’s AI features documentation, 10 December 2025: “There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary.” Google, Tips to improve your local ranking on Google, support.google.com, read 29 August 2026, for “There’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google.” The four things that get a page quoted are a controlled study of 252,000 trials, arXiv:2605.25517; our Get Found page carries it in full.
  2. Measured by us. Two questions put to an AI assistant on 25 August 2026 for a Blue Mountains business: asked for the best agents in the Lower Blue Mountains it named two franchise brands and no local firm; asked who to use to sell a house in Glenbrook or Blaxland it named no local business at all. One trade, one day, two questions: a shape, not a benchmark.
  3. Measured. ABS Building Approvals, Australia, the local government area data file for 2025-26, downloaded 6 September 2026 and re-measured 8 September 2026 across the thirteen councils of this catchment, twelve months to June 2026. Average approved value of a new house across the thirteen councils: AU$501,190, from AU$371,943 in Fairfield to AU$715,861 in The Hills Shire. Alterations and additions are 35.84% of residential approval value in the Blue Mountains against 4.19% across the thirteen councils. These are approval values as lodged, not contract prices and not completed costs.
  4. Verified. Home Building Act 1989 No 147 (NSW) and Home Building Regulation 2014 (NSW), read from the in-force consolidation on legislation.nsw.gov.au on 5 September 2026. Regulation cl 5 prescribes AU$5,000 for the five-item small jobs contract in s 7AAA and AU$20,000 for the eleven items in s 7; cl 8(1) adds a checklist and an explanation of the security of payment legislation, both in the Secretary’s approved form. Under s 10(1)(b), a contract that should be in writing and is not is unenforceable by the person who contracted to do the work, who is also denied any remedy for another party’s breach while remaining liable for their own.
  5. Verified. Home Building Act 1989 No 147 (NSW), same instrument as note 4, read 5 September 2026. s 7E(1): a contract must include, and is taken to include, each term in Schedule 2 Part 1, and a term inconsistent with one is unenforceable to that extent. Schedule 2 Part 1 cl 1(2), verbatim: “Any agreement to vary this contract, or to vary the plans and specifications for work to be done under this contract, must be in writing signed by or on behalf of each party to this contract.”
  6. Verified, and the sentences are quoted verbatim. icare, “Do I need HBCF?” and “icare releases new Home Building Compensation Eligibility Manual”, both read 6 September 2026. Cover is needed where “The total contact price (or market cost of labour and materials) is over AU$20,000 (including GST)” and you contract directly with a homeowner, developer or owner-builder. “You must have HBCF cover before you: Start work, or take any payment for the project, including a deposit.” Eligibility “sets the types of work you can do, the value of each job, and how many open jobs you can have at once”. The cost of cover is not stated here, because the manual prices eligibility rather than premium.
  7. Verified. Blue Mountains City Council, “Construction in a bush fire prone area” and “Bush Fire Prone Lands Map”, both read 6 September 2026, no last-updated date published. The map was “certified by the Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) on 14 May 2025 and is now in force”. A Bush Fire Assessment Report sets a level from the lowest rating to the highest, citing Appendix 1 of Planning for Bush Fire Protection for the method. What any level requires you to build is not on this page, because neither that document nor AS 3959 was opened.

What we set up

What it looks like on a real job.

Drawn examples of what we set up, not client results.

The services behind it

What it costs

What it costs, and how you pay.

Three bundles, each from a figure that moves with your business.

The AU$499 starter does the two things every builder needs first: your Google profile done properly, and every customer asked for a review the lawful way. Spread the payments over 3, 6 or 12 months, interest-free, depending on the size of the work.

A bundle is scoped before it is priced, and whatever your job software already does comes out of it. If Buildxact or Buildertrend estimates, chases a quiet lead or collects the signature, you are not paying us to do it again.

On a quiet website the Sell More bundle carries adverts in their feed instead of adverts to past visitors, because Google needs enough visitors before it will show those. Why

How it works

The Switch‑On Method.

Five steps, the same every time. Switched on inside 30 days.

  1. Listen

A free first hour about your business, not about AI. You leave with your insight portal: a private page about your business, your trade and your area.

  2. Scope

One page in plain English: what we do, what it costs, what we measure.

  3. Build

Set up inside the accounts you already own. Nothing to migrate into.

  4. Train

Your people shown how to drive it, on your real work, until it sticks.

  5. Measure

At 90 days we measure against day one and show you the before and after.

Why us

Six reasons owners pick us.

A local practice that builds in your accounts, hands everything over, and tells you straight.

Rory McNeil
Rory McNeilFounder, in BlaxlandThe person on the call, the person who builds it, and the person who shows your people how to drive it.
  1. We set you up, and it’s yours

We set it up in your accounts, hand over every login, and teach you to change it. You don’t pay us forever.

  2. We pick what fits

No packages. We pick the few things that will make the biggest difference, tell you what’s not worth it, and what you can stop paying for.

  3. It costs less to start

Start from AU$499, with the price in writing before we start. Three months’ support included, then optional at AU$99 a month.

  4. We’re where you are

We’re local. We sit down with you in your business, and you can always reach a real person.

  5. It moves fast

Most things are set up in days or a few weeks.

  6. Someone to ask about AI

Not sure who to ask about AI? Ask us: we’ll tell you straight, and we can set it up.

Included with every paid engagement

One hour with us, in person, on the AI you actually want to ask about.

A free workshop on Claude Code or Codex, for you and whoever you bring. Everything we build afterwards sits on it.

  • Ask what you actually want to ask

Whether it will replace you, what it gets wrong, what it costs to run. No question is too basic.

  • Say what worries you

Customer data, staff, the law, sounding like a robot. We go through each one with your business in front of us.

  • Set the goals for the engagement

The hour a week you want back, the enquiry you keep missing. Written down, then measured.

  • Learn to drive it yourself

By the end you can ask the machine to change your website, redraft an email or rerun a report.

Questions

What builders ask before they book.

If yours is not here, ask it in your free hour.

Whether you can get a builder recommended by ChatGPT

Partly, and honestly. Google says in its own documentation that no special files or markup are needed to appear in its AI answers, and the one controlled study of what gets a page quoted found four things: that the page answers the question, states prices, carries recent dates, and can be verified from several directions.1

What a contract has to carry at each price, and what a missing one costs

Over AU$5,000 a small jobs contract needs five items, and over AU$20,000 the full contract needs eleven, plus a checklist and an explanation of the security of payment legislation.4 A contract that should be in writing and is not becomes unenforceable by the builder who did the work, while they stay liable for their own breach.4

Whether a variation agreed on site is enough on its own

No, and it is a term of your contract rather than a matter of preference: any agreement to vary the contract or the plans must be in writing signed by or on behalf of each party.5 We draft it from your own words on the phone, before the work starts.

What your insurer decides that your licence does not

The size of the job. Home Building Compensation Fund eligibility sets the types of work you can do, the value of each job and how many open jobs you may have at once, and cover has to be in place before you start work or take a deposit.6

What it costs, and what you get for it

Any service on the menu is bought on its own, or together as a bundle from AU$1,790 or AU$2,490. The figure is in writing before you commit a dollar, and it is built in accounts you own.

Who owns the accounts, and what happens after

You do: everything is built in accounts under your own passwords, and whatever we build is yours. Three months’ support is included, then it’s optional at AU$99 a month.
