Working

For tradies

Found on Google. More repeat work. Quotes out tonight.

AI changed how people find a tradie. We come to you, pick the few fixes that make the biggest difference, and set them up in your own accounts.

For tradies

The things keeping you up at night.

The phone does not ring, quotes go cold, and the evenings go on admin.

  • Nobody finds us when they search.
  • The lead sites get the jobs we should.
  • Enquiries come in and go nowhere.
  • Past customers never ring again.
  • The paperwork happens on Sunday.
  • We pay for apps nobody opens.

What changed

People stopped searching. They ask an AI.

The same machine now drafts, answers and chases for a business that used to need a team. Get AI Working exists to get that machine working for small businesses like yours.

  • Then: you had to be in the list

Somebody searched, scrolled a page of links, and rang whoever looked closest. Everybody listed was in the running.

  • Now: one business gets named

Google writes the answer itself and the AI assistants name a business or two. Most people never scroll.

  • What to do: be the name in the answer

Build the listing, the pages and the answered reviews a machine can check, then add the rest one at a time.

Sources + notes

Australians naming AI tools as their main way of finding information online went from 5% to 12% in a year.1 Half say they would rely on the summary at the top and never click through.1

Asked to recommend a local business in two Blue Mountains towns, an AI assistant named none at all.2 AI chatbots were still 0.39% of Australian web traffic in May 2026, against 90.72% for ordinary search.2

Nobody can pay for a better local ranking, and Google says so itself.3

One call in eleven goes unanswered across the nine industries in the only Australian dataset anybody publishes.4 One business in five here is a construction business, against one in six across New South Wales, so more of you fight for the same three spots.5

The best figure that exists puts admin at 541 hours a year for an Australian small business, and it is seven years old and from a software vendor.6

  1. Published. Telsyte Australian Artificial Intelligence Study 2026, read 25 August 2026. Online survey, April to May 2026, 2,023 Australians aged 16 and over, for the 12% (5% a year earlier) and for the half who would not click through.
  2. Measured by us. Two questions put to an AI assistant on 25 August 2026 for a Blue Mountains business: asked for the best agents in the Lower Blue Mountains it named two franchise brands and no local firm; asked who to use to sell a house in Glenbrook or Blaxland it named no local business at all. One trade, one day, two questions: a shape, not a benchmark, and the reason we re-run the questions monthly for every client. Statcounter, Australia, May 2026, for AI chatbots at 0.39% of web traffic and search at 90.72%.
  3. Verified. Google, Guidelines for representing your business on Google and Tips to improve your local ranking on Google, support.google.com, both read 29 August 2026, for “There’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking on Google.” Google’s AI features documentation, 10 December 2025: “There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary.” The four things that get a page quoted are a controlled study of 252,000 trials, arXiv:2605.25517; our Get Found page carries it in full.
  4. Reported, not verified. AIIMS Group, reported by Dynamic Business, 28 August 2026. More than 207,000 inbound calls across 858 client businesses in nine industries: average drop rate 9.2%, roofing 17.6%, solar 1.8%. No date range is given, the analysis is not published, and the businesses are one agency’s clients rather than a random cross-section. The widely quoted “62% of business calls go unanswered” figure is American and its source page has been deleted.
  5. Measured. ABS 8165.0 Counts of Australian Businesses, Data Cube 10 Table 1, December 2025 release, businesses operating at 30 June 2025, re-measured on 8 September 2026 across the thirteen councils of this catchment: Division E Construction, 57,979 of 273,638 = 21.19%; New South Wales 155,932 of 916,563 (17.01%). Division E holds builders, electricians, carpenters, roofers and civil contractors as well as plumbers, so these are construction counts rather than counts of one trade.
  6. Published, with flags. Reckon, In The Zone, 1 May 2019, more than 1,300 Australian small business leaders. Flags: seven years old, published by a company selling accounting software, and no fieldwork dates are stated. Our Get Time Back page sets out where the law draws the line on your BAS and your deductions.

What we set up

What it looks like on a real job.

Drawn examples of what we set up, not client results.

The services behind it

What it costs

What it costs, and how you pay.

Three bundles, each priced from a figure that moves with your business, or any service on its own.

The AU$499 starter does the two things every trade needs first: your Google profile done properly, and every customer asked for a review the lawful way. Spread the payments over 3, 6 or 12 months, interest-free, depending on the size of the work.

A bundle is scoped before it is priced, and whatever your job software already does comes out of it. If ServiceM8 or Tradify is already chasing your invoices, you are not paying us to do it again.

On a quiet website the Sell More bundle carries adverts in their feed instead of adverts to past visitors, because Google needs enough visitors before it will show those. Why

How it works

The Switch‑On Method.

Five steps, the same every time. Switched on inside 30 days.

  1. Listen

A free first hour about your business, not about AI. You leave with your insight portal: a private page about your business, your trade and your area.

  2. Scope

One page in plain English: what we do, what it costs, what we measure.

  3. Build

Set up inside the accounts you already own. Nothing to migrate into.

  4. Train

Your people shown how to drive it, on your real work, until it sticks.

  5. Measure

At 90 days we measure against day one and show you the before and after.

Why us

Six reasons owners pick us.

A local practice that builds in your accounts, hands everything over, and tells you straight.

Rory McNeil
Rory McNeilFounder, in BlaxlandThe person on the call, the person who builds it, and the person who shows your people how to drive it.
  1. We set you up, and it’s yours

We set it up in your accounts, hand over every login, and teach you to change it. You don’t pay us forever.

  2. We pick what fits

No packages. We pick the few things that will make the biggest difference, tell you what’s not worth it, and what you can stop paying for.

  3. It costs less to start

Start from AU$499, with the price in writing before we start. Three months’ support included, then optional at AU$99 a month.

  4. We’re where you are

We’re local. We sit down with you in your business, and you can always reach a real person.

  5. It moves fast

Most things are set up in days or a few weeks.

  6. Someone to ask about AI

Not sure who to ask about AI? Ask us: we’ll tell you straight, and we can set it up.

Included with every paid engagement

One hour with us, in person, on the AI you actually want to ask about.

A free workshop on Claude Code or Codex, for you and whoever you bring. Everything we build afterwards sits on it.

  • Ask what you actually want to ask

Whether it will replace you, what it gets wrong, what it costs to run. No question is too basic.

  • Say what worries you

Customer data, staff, the law, sounding like a robot. We go through each one with your business in front of us.

  • Set the goals for the engagement

The hour a week you want back, the enquiry you keep missing. Written down, then measured.

  • Learn to drive it yourself

By the end you can ask the machine to change your website, redraft an email or rerun a report.

Questions

What tradies ask before they book.

If yours is not here, ask it in your free hour.

Whether you can get a tradie recommended by ChatGPT

Partly, and honestly. Google says in its own documentation that no special files or markup are needed to appear in its AI answers, and the one controlled study of what gets a page quoted found four things: that the page answers the question, states prices, carries recent dates, and can be verified from several directions.3

What it costs, and what you get for it

Any service on the menu is bought on its own, or together as a bundle from AU$1,790 or AU$2,490. The figure is in writing before you commit a dollar, and it is built in accounts you own.

How much of your time it takes

About three hours of your time for most of it, front-loaded into one mapping session. If you cannot spare that this quarter, say so and we will name the single piece worth doing on its own.

What happens to an enquiry that comes in at night

It lands in the same list as every other enquiry, with an honest reply saying you have seen it. A person picks it up in the morning, and nothing is quoted without you.

Who owns the accounts, and what happens after

You do: everything is built in accounts under your own passwords, and whatever we build is yours. Three months’ support is included, then it’s optional at AU$99 a month.

Whether you need to be good with technology

No. Whoever runs your phone or your quotes is shown how to drive it on real jobs until it sticks, and the free one-hour workshop comes first.
