Get AI
Working

For pubs and accommodation

Found on Google. Booked direct. Rosters done.

AI changed how people choose a pub or a room. We come to you, pick the few fixes that make the biggest difference, and set them up in your own accounts.

The things keeping you up at night.

Platforms take their cut, functions wait out the rush, and the roster eats Sunday night.

  • Nobody finds us when they search.
  • People find the new place, not us.
  • The platforms take their cut first.
  • Past guests never hear from us.
  • The roster lives in a group chat.
  • We pay for apps nobody opens.

What changed

People stopped searching. They ask an AI.

The same machine now drafts and answers for a venue that once needed a duty manager. Get AI Working exists to get that machine working for small businesses like yours.

  • Then: you had to be in the list

Somebody searched, scrolled a page of links, and rang whoever looked closest. Every venue listed was in the running.

  • Now: one business gets named

Google writes the answer itself and the AI assistants name a business or two.2 Most people never scroll.

  • What to do: be the name in the answer

Build the listing, the pages and the answered reviews a machine can check, then add the rest one at a time.

Sources + notes

Australians naming AI tools as their main way of finding information online went from 5% to 12% in a year.1 Half say they would take the summary at the top and never click anybody.1

A pub may not publish gaming machine advertising, and the rule reaches comments on your own posts too.4 A publican’s demerit points are published under their own name, 62 rows across 60 licences on the register we read.9

Your bar’s point-of-sale system may already email every customer asking for a review and run your loyalty program; Square says so on its own pages, read 22 September 2026.

The Blue Mountains holds 164 current liquor licences, 16 of them hotel licences and 14 more flagged as accommodation; 11 of those 16 hotels hold gaming machines.3

Online travel agent commission runs an indicative 10 to 20 per cent.5 Airbnb’s own host-only fee is 15.5% for most hosts.6

A casual Sunday is 175% of the ordinary rate, not something to multiply.7 An employer with no records has to disprove a wage claim in court.8

  1. Published. Telsyte Australian Artificial Intelligence Study 2026, read 25 August 2026. Online survey, April to May 2026, 2,023 Australians aged 16 and over, for the 12% now naming an AI tool as their main way of finding information online (5% a year earlier) and for the half who would rely on the summary and never click through.
  2. Verified. Google’s AI features documentation, 10 December 2025: “There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary.” The four things that get a page quoted are a controlled study of 252,000 trials, arXiv:2605.25517. ACCC guidance on online reviews, read 5 September 2026: a business may mislead consumers if they “suppress or edit negative reviews”, and an incentive must be “applied regardless of whether the reviewer leaves a positive or negative review” and disclosed.
  3. Measured. Liquor & Gaming NSW, monthly licensed premises list, the workbook headed “Licence Details - as at 01 August 2026”, parsed 5 September 2026. Blue Mountains: 164 current licences, 16 of them hotel licences, and 11 of those 16 hold gaming machines; 14 further licences carry the accommodation flag. The register was parsed twice, independently, and its Blue Mountains machine count agrees with the agency’s own quarterly hotel gaming machine report. The catchment total of 2,731 current licences across the thirteen councils was re-measured 8 September 2026.
  4. Verified. Gaming Machines Act 2001 (NSW), in-force consolidation read 5 September 2026. Section 43(1): a person must not publish gaming machine advertising, at 100 penalty units, up to AU$11,000; s 43(6) includes in “publish” dissemination by “electronics, the Internet or television”. Liquor & Gaming NSW, Liquor Promotion Guidelines GL4001, read in full 5 September 2026: the Guidelines “extend to ... any user-generated comments on an account owned by a licensee”, and a notice restricting a promotion may be issued to the licensee at up to AU$5,500 under s 102(3) of the Liquor Act 2007 (NSW).
  5. Published, with flags. Destination NSW, NSW First guidance on selling online via distribution partners, read 5 September 2026: online travel agents 10 to 20 per cent for accommodation. Its own caveat travels with the figure: “These are indicative commission levels and may vary.” No publication date is shown, and this is the only Australian government commission figure located for this audience.
  6. Verified. Airbnb help article 1857, airbnb.com.au, read 5 September 2026: “Most hosts pay 15.5%” under the host-only fee, which is “mandatory for certain hosts, including traditional hospitality listings (e.g., hotels, serviced apartments, etc.)”. Tested and absent: Booking.com and Agoda publish no fixed commission figure on their own partner pages.
  7. Verified. Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 MA000009, consolidated award text, read 5 September 2026, as varied with effect from 1 July 2026. Clause 18.1 gives the Level 1 hourly rate as AU$26.44, clause 29.2 Table 14 gives the casual Sunday rate as 175%, which clause 29.2(b) pays “at the percentage specified in column 3 of that Table of the ordinary hourly rate”, not multiplied by anything else.
  8. Verified. Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) s 557C and the record-keeping obligations, verified 5 September 2026. Records run seven years, and s 557C places the onus on an employer who fails those obligations without reasonable excuse to disprove a wage claim made in court. From 1 January 2025 intentional underpayment is also a criminal offence, and the Voluntary Small Business Wage Compliance Code, open to employers with fewer than 15 employees, protects against criminal referral only.
  9. Measured. Liquor Act 2007 (NSW) Part 9A, read from the in-force Act 5 September 2026, and the NSW Liquor & Gaming demerit points register, fetched and parsed the same day, carrying a report date of 7 August 2026: 62 rows carrying a licence number across 60 distinct licence numbers, each row naming the licensee personally, the premises and suburb, the points, the dates and the offence as the register words it.
  10. Verified. Fair Trading Regulation 2019 (NSW) cl 11C(1)(a)(i) and the Code of Conduct for the Short-term Rental Accommodation Industry, October 2021, both read 5 September 2026. The Regulation excludes tourist and visitor accommodation, and its own note reads that this “includes backpackers’ accommodation, hotel or motel accommodation and serviced apartments”. Code clause 2.4.11: a host must ensure the host and the premises are registered before advertising, an offence provision under s 54C of the Act.

What we set up

What it looks like on a real night.

Drawn examples of what we set up, not client results.

The services behind it

What it costs

What it costs, and how you pay.

Three bundles, each priced from a figure that moves with your business, or any service on its own.

The AU$499 starter does two things first: your Google profile done, and every customer asked for a review, lawfully. Spread the payments over 3, 6 or 12 months, interest-free, depending on the size of the work.

A bundle is scoped before it is priced, and whatever your point-of-sale or property system does comes out of it.

On a quiet website the Sell More bundle carries adverts in their feed instead of adverts to past visitors, because Google needs enough visitors before it will show those. Why

How it works

The Switch‑On Method.

Five steps, the same every time. Switched on inside 30 days.

  1. Listen

A free first hour about your business, not about AI. You leave with your insight portal: a private page about your business, your trade and your area.

  2. Scope

One page in plain English: what we do, what it costs, what we measure.

  3. Build

Set up inside the accounts you already own. Nothing to migrate into.

  4. Train

Your people shown how to drive it, on your real work, until it sticks.

  5. Measure

At 90 days we measure against day one and show you the before and after.

The method in full

Why us

Six reasons owners pick us.

A local practice that builds in your accounts, hands everything over, and tells you straight.

Rory McNeil
Rory McNeilFounder, in BlaxlandThe person on the call, the person who builds it, and the person who shows your people how to drive it.
  1. We set you up, and it’s yours

We set it up in your accounts, hand over every login, and teach you to change it. You don’t pay us forever.

  2. We pick what fits

No packages. We pick the few things that will make the biggest difference, tell you what’s not worth it, and what you can stop paying for.

  3. It costs less to start

Start from AU$499, with the price in writing before we start. Three months’ support included, then optional at AU$99 a month.

  4. We’re where you are

We’re local. We sit down with you in your business, and you can always reach a real person.

  5. It moves fast

Most things are set up in days or a few weeks.

  6. Someone to ask about AI

Not sure who to ask about AI? Ask us: we’ll tell you straight, and we can set it up.

Included with every paid engagement

One hour with us, in person, on the AI you actually want to ask about.

A free workshop on Claude Code or Codex, for you and whoever you bring. Everything we build afterwards sits on it.

  • Ask what you actually want to ask

Whether it will replace you, what it gets wrong, what it costs to run. No question is too basic.

  • Say what worries you

Customer data, staff, the law, sounding like a robot. We go through each one with your business in front of us.

  • Set the goals for the engagement

The hour a week you want back, the enquiry you keep missing. Written down, then measured.

  • Learn to drive it yourself

By the end you can ask the machine to change your website, redraft an email or rerun a report.

Questions

What owners ask before they book.

If yours is not here, ask it in your free hour.

Whether you can get a pub recommended by ChatGPT

Partly, and honestly. Google says in its own documentation that no special files or markup are needed to appear in its AI answers, and the one controlled study of what gets a page quoted found four things: that the page answers the question, states prices, carries recent dates, and can be verified from several directions.2

Whether a pub can put its gaming room on its own website

No. Section 43(1) of the Gaming Machines Act 2001 (NSW) says a person must not publish gaming machine advertising, at up to AU$11,000, and s 43(6) defines publish to include the Internet, so the website, the map profile and the Facebook page are all inside it.4 What the section does not do is stop a pub marketing its food, its rooms, its beer garden or its function space.

Whether a motel is bound by the short-term rental rules

No, and it is the easiest mistake to make in this sector: clause 11C(1)(a)(i) of the Fair Trading Regulation 2019 (NSW) excludes tourist and visitor accommodation, and the Regulation’s own note names hotel or motel accommodation and serviced apartments.10 A holiday let sits inside the regime, where the Code requires the host and the premises to be on the register before the premises are advertised.

What a casual actually costs on a Sunday in a NSW pub

One hundred and seventy-five per cent of the ordinary hourly rate, and that percentage already contains the casual loading rather than sitting on top of it.7

What it costs, and what you get for it

Any service on the menu is bought on its own, or together as a bundle from AU$1,790 or AU$2,490. The figure is in writing before you commit a dollar, and it is built in accounts you own.

Who owns the accounts, and what happens after

You do: everything is built in accounts under your own passwords, and whatever we build is yours. Three months’ support is included, then it’s optional at AU$99 a month.
